Do people actually clean their filters like this?

Why is this in the dumbgeon? I see nothing wrong with this method.

Doesn't wash the dirt out with soapy water or anything and also doesn't get the kerosene off it before re oiling

It’s a quick way to do it certainly but the filter is still soaked in kerosene like you say and the kerosene which does not evaporate breaks down the filter oil.. which is why he’s cleaning the filter with it.


I guess people do clean their filters like that but it just doesn’t seem right to me… I know I’m a perfectionist but looking after the filter is one of the best ways for longevity in the engine.
