For Sale: My Complete Motocross Existence

The story: I’ll try not to bore you, but after years of being a huge motocross fan/participant, I’ve decided that the “participant” part is over. I have been blessed with the opportunity to ride motorcycles for many years. Now, at 51 years old, I’ve decided to call it quits.

Take a good look at what I’m offering. If you really know vintage mx, and if you also are ready to enjoy traveling to the races in the most comfortable way possible, with the very best equipment, I think I have something that you might be interested in.

Why sell all of this in one lot? Pretty simple, really. I would rather do one transaction with one buyer than deal with a minimum of ten transactions with buyers that may or may not come through in the end.

The result is that the buyer of this RV and these bikes will get an unbelievable deal on the entire package.

Important things to note: There are both collectable bikes and race bikes in this package.

A. The race bikes were maintained by my mechanic, who also was the mechanic for both Jeff Surwall and Jeff Glass (remember “Team Surf Detergent”?) back in the 80’s. My mechanic was also an ex pro racer and is one of the best guys you could ever meet.

B. The RV and most of these bikes have been kept in a climate controlled warehouse for the entire time that I have owned them. You can see the storage area in some of the pictures. The RV has been plugged in to 50 amp electric during storage. Why is this important? Because not only have I kept the RV in an A/C environment, but I also kept the temperature inside the motorhome at the perfect temperature to insure that there would be very little humidity in the coach (this is in Florida, after all!)

C. If you look at the pictures, you’ll see that nearly every bike has either new, or nearly new Michelin S-12’s on it.

D. I didn’t even wipe the dust off these bikes for the pictures. I pulled them out of the warehouse, took the pics and put them back. They will look that much better given even minimal attention.

Perhaps you aren’t a 125cc guy. That’s OK. The quality of these bikes is so high that you can trade/sell your way into pretty much any other bikes that you might desire.

I’ll do my best to list the features of each bike and the RV. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Look at the way these bikes are equipped. These are not “stock:” bikes! (Well, except for a couple of them, which are supposed to be stock).

Bikes:

1980 CR125 – Really nice race bike. This bike features a vmxracing aluminum swingarm with FOX SHOX, a 1982 CR480 front end with double leading shoe front brakes, freshly laced gold rims purchased new last year. AVS levers and Renthal bars. Not only does this bike ride and handle great, but the engine absolutely RIPS! This is a complete holeshot machine. Sorry the bike wasn’t washed up for the photos, but time has been very limited lately.

1980 CR125 – This was my first 1980 CR125 that I purchased a few years back. I let it sit in the warehouse for quite a while because I concentrated on the 1974 bikes for racing. Ultimately, I let my mechanic race and maintain this bike. He pretty much had a field day in the 40+ evo class on this machine. Not just against 125’s, but 250’s, open bikes… you name it. The bike has a really nicely made aluminum swingarm and Ohlin shocks that I had built especially for this bike by Steve Marpes at Ohlin. This bike has a 1983 CR480 front end with the double leading shoe brakes. It also has a very sweet aftermarket pipe on it. Another very fast bike.

1977 CR125 – Very nice race bike. Aftermarket up pipe, DG swingarm, brand new Ohlin rear shocks, GP seat, later year XR200 front end with a very plush feel. Great race bike, a complete blast to ride.

1975 Vintage Factory/FMF Red Racer – This work of art from Scott Steger was purchased about three years ago and I am the original owner. In this case, I simply couldn’t resist and I mounted a set of BRAND NEW Works Performance shocks and raced it a couple of times. This is a very fast, very good handling piece of moto history. You can find pictures of the bike on the Vintage Factory site as well.

It features the custom up pipe, finned FMF forks, FMF swingarm, Carb, etc. A beautiful bike that could be converted back to a museum piece very easily.

1976 FMF Package Racer – Remember what you could buy back then? This Vintage Factory creation is in the very same condition that it was when I purchased it new from Scott Steger back in 2007. This bike has never had gas in it and has been in my air-conditioned warehouse ever since. It’s hard to describe the beauty of this bike. If I were Marty Smith, my life would be complete!

• FMF Exhaust Pipe

• FMF Porcupine Head

• FMF Ported Cylinder

• 34mm Mikuni Carb Kit

• FMF Aluminum Swingarm

• FMF Forks w/aircaps

• Gas Girling Shocks

• FMF 520 Big Chain

• FMF RC Replica Tank

1974/75 Hybrid CR125M – This is my personal race bike. It is the 2009 flvmx Intermediate Vintage 0-200 Champ. 32mm Mikuni carb, DG swingarm, Works Performance shocks, 1976 CR125 Triples and forks (legal in flvmx), Pro-Form pipe, Renthal bars, AVS levers. All I can say is that this is a very fast, dependable, great running race bike. I have 74 forks available if you really need the punishment.

1974 CR125M – All white with black rims looks kind of trick. I built this one to race in the 100cc class, but the rules in FLVMX won’t allow it, so I put a Doug Benolkin cylinder on it and turned it back into a 125. I never really rode this bike more than a few laps, simply because I didn’t really need the bike. Of course, I put brand new Works Performance shocks on it anyway, because sometimes you just have to do stuff. Pro-Form pipe, DG swingarm, 1976 triples and forks, Pro Taper bars, AVS levers. Pure quality.

1975 CR125 – Completely original. Bought from a guy who rode it for a summer up north and put it away. Not perfect, but an unbelievably correct, stock 1975 CR125M.

1974 CR125M restoration. This bike is really nicely done and looks tremendous. There are some issues for “true collectors” (1975 forks), but what a beautiful bike. Look at the parts that are there. Just the complete exhaust is worth big money.

FMF RC Replica Tank

RV –

This is a 2008 Gulfstream Bounty Hunter *diesel* puller coach

It has a 7.5k Diesel generator, 5 LCD tv’s, big single slideout, automatic leveling jacks, rear camera, twin hideaway drop down motorized beds in the garage, 12’ garage w/tv and stereo in there, all the bells and whistles, etc. Good amount of options on this coach.

Only 7500 miles… on a diesel. Basically means that it’s virtually new.

Price: For everything that you see listed here, and some stuff that isn’t (extra engines anyone?) plus more, I’ll take $100,000. Bring a trailer to tow behind the RV and you can take everything home at once! The coach alone retails for nearly $160,000.

Fine print: Everything will sell “as is”, but “as is” is pretty damn nice in this case! No, I won’t sell anything individually. I want this transaction to be for everything that you see here.

HOLY HELL!

Man , i'm really sad that you are wanting to step away from the sport completely. But i just wanted to comment on a couple things. 1st....your collection of Honda's is one of the best i've ever seen and my jaw dropped just looking at your pictures. 2nd.....the price for everything you are asking , is one hell of a deal! I'm not sure if you can find anyone to buy an entire package like that , but good luck anyways. I know it's worth every penny , but honestly think you could get more than that if you sold everything off individuality.
