Im having a weird problem i cant seem to figure out, its on a 06 yz250, the power valve Governor by the water pump keeps spitting its pin out when the motor is running, it will run fine for a bit than lose all top end power. I pull the inner clutch cover and the 4 weight balls fall out as i remove the governor.

that pin in this pic is somehow making its way out

i tried another governor out of a friends 03 yz250 and it didn't happen again. but when i compare them on the bench they are identical in every single way,

what am i missing here? I've had 2 pins go through my motor chipping up gears, i need to figure this out asap

No help, but I would just buy a new govener, it's 11 years old, bound to wear out I would think.

X2 or get a new roll pin fitted to your shaft.

The new roll pin fitted to the shaft makes sense. The shaft would have been my first guess as two pins have been used with the same result. If you had not used another power valve governor with good results I would have also been suspicious of the power valve hanging up and loading/unloading pressure on the pin. Like you do during assembly when you are supposed to lock the arm while tightening the power valve bolt on the cylinder assembly

there is wear on the shaft and in the hole in the cup, when you let off the gas the revs come down the balls retract and the cup sticks just enough for the spring to not be able to push it back and the pin falls out, happens enough that i figured it out
