i am doing some research on the ray piston kit by dal soggio, is this kit a good upgrade to the 4cs forks? or is it just easier to spend more and have the SSS don to the forks by tb racing?

thanks

I would think it depends on budget. If you keep bike and you don't mind spending the momay the kyb swap is very popuplar. I've been revisiting oc conversions on those. There's so much stuff out there. Dal saggio makes a good kit as well.

Im going to keep the set of forks, just want to make them ride better, there way to harsh right now, im not sure what to do. I have a set of 13 cc forks that i like but thought if i can make the 4cs work better then to use them.

Basically, it turns the forks into an open chamber fork. Like a 1990 cr500 lol. But, they can work well, and are more reliable than the 8mm id cartridge seal , which 4cs relys on to function.

Do not spend a dime on the 4CS fork. Either replaced the whole cartridge or KYB conversion. I spent two years dumping money into those forks. Revolves, Ray kit, nothing had them even close to stock SSS stuff. Sold the bike I was so frustrated with the forks.

Have you thought about switching to twin chamber, spring WP forks? Straight bolt-on, and a great fork.

Buy the Dal Soggio Sphere kit... The Ray kit will get you 95% of the way there though...

Yup, you are right. Unfortunately you don't get the coatings with the SSS swap though..

Yes Corey does. It's a popular mod, just get with a tuner who knows how to tune them. That's Corey at pro tune.

My buddy had Corey at Protune do a KYB conversion on his 17 350SX-F AER48s. His prices seemed really good, and I was impressed with the bike when i rode it.

Its $500 vs $1600+. Thats a big difference if you ask me. If you have the money it seems like the KYB conversion is worth it but I read a lot of good reviews about the ray kit. I've thought about the Ray kit as well. I recently had my 4cs revalved for single track and I'm happy with the results. I asked for a more plush feel in slow rocky chop and thats exactly what I got. I'm pretty dang happy with my forks now. I had a 2006 yz 250 for a few years and I really never understood all the guys that worship the SSS stuff. Maybe I'm just too slow, I dunno.

From where? Did you source the SSS forks/internals ahead of time?

I had one for sale but it went pretty quick.

I have another set of SSS internals but for the 4CS we are only using the KYB lugs now. I'll have to price them and check availability. I'll sell these ones for the same price $1200 plus the lugs. I'll include springs for your weight as well.

I fully endorse Flipsid33's work and any parts he sells. Good dude that knows what he's doing with suspension!
