pc fathers day gift

I have a 19 kx450 with a t-6 stainless full system on it. My 16 year old were sitting in the garage one day when i commented on how cool a carbon tip would look. Well he got me one for fathers day. We thought it would swap right over but we were wrong it seems. Does any one know if there is a way to make it work? The carbon tip slides over the stainless one but sticks out too far and has nothing behind the holes to rivet to. What is under the carbon on the ti system? I kinda feel like a dick by not getting it on there.
