damaged 2013 KX250F outer fork tubes

so i purchased a 2013 kx250f, and everything seemed fine upon inspection, but when i got home i had removed the forks to change the seals, and the forks are gouged out from what looks to be the cycra number plate that was on it. Is there anything i can do to fix this or do i have to buy new new tubes?

Not sure I understand how a number plate could damage upper fork tubes to the point where they need to be replaced??

Why are you concerned about this?? Purely cosmetic???

The outside of the upper tubes doesn’t affect the operation of the forks in any way. I’ve seen that before with the Cycra plates; while they prevent roost damage to the clamps, they will wear into the fork tubes where they are zip tied.

I was wondering for mainly cosmetic reason but I was also curious if it could cause the forks to be weaker

I run a strip of electrical tape around my fork tube for this reason with the cycra. I noticed the other day when buying a replacement after I yard saled my bike and broke the front plate, they make a rubber cushion that goes behind it to protect the fork anodizing.

It doesn’t look to deep. Unless you are cartwheeling your bike daily, there should be no issues.

The only way to fix it would be to buy new outer tubes, or just buy new forks, which would probably be cheaper.

Id look on mcmaster-carr for some kind of foam or hard rubber material to put between there.

Or you could grind away some plastic right there to give some clearance. this would be my first step.
