So I'm taking apart my friends suspension to replace seals and bushings. And while taking apart I notice one of the piston rods is sucked in. It won't retract out. So I take the inner chamber apart and find the plastic is broken. I'm wondering should I replace just the plastic and seals. I've never seen this and am curious how it even happens? Both of them are like this.

If you replace them with the original plastic ones, drill 2 holes 180 degrees apart to prevent pressure build up in the future. I personally would replace with aftermarket aluminium ones.

x2.... as mentioned above, stock ones build up pressure and crack. This is very common
