Can i reuse this crank half if i smoothen the teet a bit? I am going to use a new chain and cams, building an 290 engine (I have thread in the build section)

The obvious is to exchange the worn part, but I'm trying to keep the budget

I would not reuse that, it is to worn out and it will wear your cam chain that much faster. If a tooth breaks off then you will have much more trouble than you are bargaining for.

Thanks for making that clear, is it common that it looks like this? I'm not sure about the hours on the bike, but by the look it must be 150-200. I'll give the Yamaha dealer a call and hope it's not to expensive (which it will certainly be)

It needs to be replaced especially if you consider going to a big bore top end (more load on the motor) Simply put pay me now or really pay me latter.

The sprocket shows all the signs of a worn out cam chain eating up the teeth.
