Yz125 piston and ring

This is my first time changing out the top end on my bike and I ordered a top end kit and the piston is 53.95mm And my ring came in size 54.00mm I was suppose to get a 53.95mm wasn’t i or am I wrong

The ring should be the same size as the bore. What you have is correct... Make sure you have proper piston to wall clearance and ring gap... Based upon your bore size I’d say your ring gap should be around .010”-.012” inches and your piston to wall should be in the ball park of .0022”-.0025” inches

You measure the gap when the ring is in the cylinder bore. Push it in the bore with the piston so it sits correct.

What he said above however the ring shouldn't be that loose on piston. So something is seems off unless ring got "stretched" out when installed.......

I agree with the above the ring looks way too loose on the piston... how was it installed?

I Started out at the left side of the piston and pushed it down slowly until I got to the right side
