I started working on this yz125 and found it had spark with brand new sparkplug. Compression seems sorta low but upon checking the intake into the crankcase I found all these not so much shavings but pieces or chunks of metal and I opened the combustion chamber open and it seems to be intact. Any ideas?

Keep in mind it wouldn’t start before taking it apart.

Looks like cast material, meaning piston. That one sneezed hard to blow all that material back through the reed petals like that.

Broken pieces of piston. Take that whole cylinder apart and inspect for damage.

You ended up being right. I since repaired it. Wasn't expecting the skirt of the piston be in a million bits.
