Yz 250 2006 triple clamps fit 2005!?

Help!!

I have a 2005 yz 250 and looking to change the triple clamps but it seems no one does them or has any in stock. To be able to change my handle bars I'm going to have to change the triple clamps set up. Now the main question is...... does the stock/aftermarket 2006 triple clamps fit the 2005??

If so what other mods did you have to make to get them to fit if any?

This has been a head scratcher for me and now injured due to handle bars moving while riding my mission is to try get it fixed for when I am myself!

Thanks in advance Vital Legends

They are a different fork tube spacing (1mm wider on the new stuff if I remember correctly). Pretty certain the fork tube diameters are the same though, so you can run 2006+ clamps, but you'll need both top and bottom to make it work. And the new clamps will need to be for a 125 as the steering stem lengths are all different.

You'll possibly need a 1mm spacer for the axle to make it work, but I would think that 1mm is within the range of adjustment so I bet you'll be fine without it.

Any clamps from 06+ will work. If they aren’t from a YZ250, you will need to press your steering stem in since the 125 stem is short length, the four strokes have a medium length, and the 250 has a long length stem. You will need to change both clamps, and will have to run a 1mm spacer as stated above, on I believe it’s the braking side, but not positive.

Oops, I meant to type "And the new clamps will need to be for a 250 (not 125) as the steering stem lengths are all different."

It doesn’t really matter, as long as you have the ability to repress your old steering stem into the new clamps.
