Has anyone tried the no toil filter cage setup? It looks similar in design to the twin air at a fraction of the cost.

Where did you order it from? I don't see a PN for the 19 250 on their website. Thanks.

Any updates on this subject?

Just made the switch to a 2019 yz250f (absolutely love it!!). Just put the first couple of hours on it with standard and TwinAir filters (not the superflow ones) and didn't have any problems, (yet?). Don't trust it 100% mentally with reading some reviews. The rides were in pretty good conditions... Just training, no races and almost no dust.

Rid my 2020 yesterday and was fairly dusty and the air box was no dirtier than my yz 250. I think they've updated something in the air box though..

I discovered a couple things I feel like are worth sharing.
1) The starter boot/wrap has melted, the wire is fine.
2) The wiring harness has 2 small splice junctions and 2 what I believe to be diodes. Both of the diodes displayed corrosion, kind of surprising considering the low hours and we don’t use any wash chemicals.
All the connections were cleaned, dielectric greased and fully wrapped with vinyl electrical tape to prevent water intrusion. Attached picture was prior to taking the splice and diode apart.

That header is red hot, are you running a different than stock map that is leaner or something. I only have a 15 but mine doesn't get near that hot!!

The headers get like that if you let them idle to long. There is no reason for them to idle that long

yeah I don't let mine idle for long at all, habit from the older 4 strokes that would literally boil over just from Idling too long. that's crazy no wonder it melted.

I read a 19 owner complaining that there is an issue with the new timing chains and that they only have a 10hr service interval?? I think it was a different forum and I forget the details about his issue but he was super pissed off and totally regretted buying the bike. I'm debating on yzf or SXF and this might be the determining factor. Do any of you guys have a good amount of hours and can attest to it's reliability?

I bought mine in Feb and I think I have about 40 hours on it. It's awesome. Lost some low to mid over the previous version but the gain on top is noticeable.

mine got 42 hours now, no issues other than the light for the map switch has stopped working. (prob self made by the high pressure washer) you should not need to worry to much.

Just sold ours at 47 hours, valves hadn’t moved at all. 95% serious moto 5% trail/woods.
Zero issues ever. Changed the battery only because others had issues and we were trying for LL’s.
Mobil1 10-40 motorcycle oil every 5 hours.
Never had any dirt past the air filter, it’s not that difficult. Used Twin Air and Bel Ray exclusively.

We were pitted outside of an indoor track during the winter in Ohio, oil temp was probably 30°f
I’m an engine guy, and oil temp is paramount in my business, so I got her warmed up the best I could.
Stock map, just dark out.

What's the name of the indoor track and how is it? I'm pissed we no longer have one in CT, actually we dont even have a public track any longer either!

Ram Jam in Lorain Ohio. Good track and people.
It’s best when ambient is 32°f or higher.
They have caution lights and haven’t ever seen any big crashes.

shit gps says 9hrs so not sure I'll be making that trek for an indoor track. Good thing about the east coast is that the sand tracks don't freeze like normal ground so there's places to ride year round as long as no snow is on the ground and it's not too cold out.

For me the 19 Yamaha suspension was to firm and stiff. So I had it revalved by Technical Touch(https://www.technical-touch.com/). Now the suspension is perfect for me.

More plushier and easier to ride.....

I'm joining the 250F club soon when i trade in my 2019 450 for a 2020 or slightly used 2019 250F! I haven't owned a 250f since 2010 and that was a KXF250.

I have a spare set of stock 2019 YZ450F wheels, do people run a 2.15 rear rim on 250F bikes or is that a big "no-no"?

2.15 is fine. I run a 110 tire on all my 250f

19 250f 20hrs changed oil/oil filter every 5hrs I put a twin air pwr filter kit on straight away just checked valve clearances - haven’t moved the only issue I’ve noticed is the clutch is a little noisey when bike is warm at idle

I got my 2020 last week and have 1,5 hours on it now.

As for the mapping, i actually prefer the stock Hard Hitting rather than Keefer Free Feeling. I thought that i lost a tad too much of the low and mid range with the Free Feeling map. But the track that i have been on is a technical and relatively slow one. So i'll try the Free Feeling map again when i ride a faster and more open track.

I also installed the Twin Air Powerflow kit yesterday but i haven't tried it yet. Maybe the Free Feeling map works better with it? Other engine performance parts will be a full FMF or Akrapovic exhaust system but that is something that i'll get in the spring.

I will also move over my Xtrig ROCS clamps and Öhlins Flow shock from my old 450.

I'm so happy that i went for the 250 over the new 450, it is so much more fun to ride the smaller bike and you can ride 100% for longer. I'm also faster on it compared to the 450.

Thought i would write some more.

4 hours on the bike right now. I didn't feel like the powerflow kit had any gains in the bottom and mid range of the powercurve (except maybe a bit quicker to rev up?) but it did feel like the bike was able to pull longer in the high rpms before going to a gear higher. It is a must-have on these bikes since it seals the airbox better.

I rode two days in a row on a fast, semi deep sand track that was is rough shape (no maintenance in 3 weeks) and i managed to put in 25-30 minute motos with very consistent laptimes. And i'm significantly (we are talking multiple seconds per lap) faster on the 250 compared to the 450, it is so much easier to corner this bike.

I still haven't tested the clamps and the Öhlins shock.

The yz250f timing chains are weak. Every yz250f i have pulled apart i noticed the chains were starting to kink and get tight, some as early as 10 hours. They will start kinking and possibly snap if not changed on a regular interval. I have personally seen 4 bikes that snapped chains on the yz250f, all were 14-18 pre 19 bikes but the 19 & 20 uses the same chain. This past weekend a kid snapped one just as he left the face of a table top and almost killed himself, it happened right in front of us. I don't know the maintenance history of that bike but the chain did snap. The chains are on the smaller side and maybe Yamaha is trying to prevent parasitic loss by using a lighter smaller chain. Do yourself a favor and always change the timing chain at regular intervals, don't assume it is still good and keep running it. For $25 it's good insurance and can prevent a catastrophic loss.

I updated my rear-shock with a bleeding-screw and a shrader-valve-cap
