I have a 2016 YZ125.

I was getting my bike ready for the season, and I noticed it was idling higher than I would like it to so I went to adjust it.

If I turn the idle screw either way it increases the idle, why is this?

Cant tell you why but if it ran fine last year the carb probably just needs cleaned.

Cleaned carb and everything. It’s still a little cooler here like 45-50 degrees and I’m jetted for summer.

Would the cooler weather with summer jetting make my idle screw increase idle either way I turn it?

Are you sure you're turning the idle speed adjustment screw and not the air screw (idle mixture screw) ?

Idle speed is the phillips one you have to loosen a small locknut on first. Air screw is the slotted one with no locknut further back by the airboot.

Yes I am positive I’m turning the right screw

Sounds like you need to take the carb apart and give it a good cleaning. Especially the pilot jet.
