Will not mar my rims? Or do I need to improve my technique. I use this type of iron now and got some small nicks in the rim.

They make plastic rim protectors that you stick under the tire iron. I use the same spoons with the protectors and have zero issues.

Motion Pro? I have some generics that tore. They seemed to be like soft plastic or hard rubber.

I use these kind of spoons and the part where I tend to leave marks is the very last bit of putting the tire back on. The solution for that is more spoons as you can place them all in there before it gets tight.

I like these as well. And yes, you gotta be a little careful. Good tire mounting lube helps immensely.

I just did my wheels brand new with the spoon above. I put two layers of electrical tape on the wheels lip to prevent scratches that worked perfect.

I have had good luck with motion pros, and have even chopped two up to weld one big long one.... More leverage+Less times biting= Less damage. Oh yea, tire past- or Windex at a minimum, works well to help 'em slide on.

I use the same, buy 3 and it will make moving them around the rim allot easier. I was constantly pinching tubed with the spoons in the first post. Also I got a Bead Buddy to help.

I've also used the Motion Pro plastic rim protectors, but they are kind of a pain in the ass to use. I used them when my rim was new, but now don't really touch them.

I second this! Easiest I have ever changed a tire. Even the extra ply ones are no problem.

I have scratched rims with this.. Probably being in a hurry and carelessness but it seems too easy with the sharp edges of the tool. Motion Pro tire spoons get my vote.
