Hey guys I've been fighting this water pump leak for a week now, I first thought it was the cover gasket so I replaced it. Same problem. Traced it back to water was actually coming out of the hole in the picture. Is there a screw that's supposed to go in there? I'm completely confused as to what this hole is used for.

That hole is there to let fluid leak out when the seals are bad. Rebuild the water pump.

I appreciate the help, If I’m not mistaken it’s just 2 oil seals on each side and a washer correct? 01 YZ250

Theres a bearing on the inside of the right side case. You have to pull it to get the seal out and the new one in.
