Tusk Clutch Kits - Quality?

Anybody had experience with Tusk Clutch Kits? I got the competition kit and heavy duty springs for my 2012 KTM 250SX. I got onto RMATV to get the OEM replacement, but then talked myself into the Tusk kit ($100 cheaper) and now I'm having second thoughts.

I bought a Tusk brake line before and it turned out to be a Galfer brake line, which was a good deal and I've had positive experiences with other products in the past.

I use to use them all the time on my old 450. They worked just fine for me.

Have used several with good luck until this weekend when one of the clutch disks broke and then blendered, sending metal all through the motor (YZ125). Probably looking at a total engine rebuild. Only OEM from now on for me.

They fade like a cheap suit if you stress them at all. I’ve seen my friends completely lose all lever function when stuck in the woods.

Would be nice to know if any of the failures are the competition kit.
The competition kit with HD springs works nice in my kids CR 250.
From what I've gathered the problems seem to be with the std kit

I had the same experience. If you're hard on the clutch, don't buy it.

Mine works ok in my CR250 (‘02), But it does fade if you work it at all.

I had a tusk kit with hd springs...started slipping after a bit of abuse, fiber plates wore like hairs...ended up clogging up the oil pickups in my 4 stroke, and I ended up seizing the cam, destroying the piston, and bore as well. I do not recommend them at all

This was the first time I tried one and it's fades quick . I wouldn't recommend it . I'll buy oem from now on

Had the same thing happen to me on my YZ250. A fiber plate exploded and went into every nook and cranny in the motor. Had to split the cases and spent hours cleaning it all out

I guess I’ll consider myself lucky! I’d say oem after seeing othe people’s horror stories. Pay me now or pay me more later is part of owning a bike.

being smart is also part of owning a bike and buying sub par stuff to save a buck often costs you way more later on in one form or another.
