Triple clamp compatibility between 2004 and 2007 KX250 two stroke

Edited Date/Time 11/10/2023 6:45am
Looking at getting some triples for my 2007 KX250 two stroke. Found some from Applied but they are listed for the 2003-2004 KX250 two stroke.

Anyone know with 100% certainty that the 04 KX250 two stroke clamps will fit the 07 KX250 two stroke without modifying steering stem, steering stops or anything else?

Ok digging around for images on fleabay and elsewhere... think they are the same clamp across 2003-2007(8 if in Europe). The finish color changed from silver to gold I think in 2004 or 5. Just need to confirm OD of upper end of fork tubes...

2003 clamp:

2004-2005 BRP clamp:

2006-2007 OEM clamp:

If you buy a complete set of clamps, it will work. The 2005+ have a little wider handlebar clamp mount distance. The 2005 - 2008 upper clamps are the same, just different colors. 44039-0017 (458, D3, 10Y)

Kleenex and old pistons...you livin' right, girl!

For my 2007 KX 250 basket case project reserection .

I have now bought 2 sets of used epay tri star triple clamps,  both eBay and both wrong size, because they are most likely for an 250F with Showa smaller by 1 mm.

47 mm 250 f w showa . Versus kyb 48 mm

Can anyone everyone elaborate on this stuff,

06+ 250f with Showa suspension do not fit 04-07 125/250 or 04-05 250f with 48mm KYB.

So, does this mean the 04-05 250 f also were 48 mm kYB.

Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for the info, this is place is great, I so appreciate it,

From what I'm learning I'm hopeful to find 2002 triples for the steering,  hopefully a nice set of billet machined clamps but not so easy as this is an easy discovery from what I read and google search brings up.

I may machine the tri star clamps from whatever they were actually from, to fit, do machine shops bore these , I will be inquiring local and come back to share once I know.

I have a set of nice OEM 2002 triples that I got years ago (for the steering angle) and never used.  Ended up getting a KTM 250SX instead. lmk if you'd like to get them.

Yes.

2002 will not fit a 2007 without swapping steering stems and fabbing new steer stops.  You wont see much for the 02, it was one year only L model with 48mm KYB forks, then the frame change in 03.

He machined , bored  the 47 mm showa size up-to 48 mm it fits perfect .
