I have a YZ125, currently running Motul Transoil Expert 10W-40 Semi Synthetic 2T. Costing around £11 per bottle. I want to buy myself a 4L bottle of gearbox oil, but ill be honest ive been told to get cheaper options and to dump it every 2 rides, or get semi decent oil such as Motul transoil and dump it every 3 rides.

Ive seen some Motul - 5000 10W-40 4T which is a 4L bottle costing just over £25.

My question is; can i use 4T in a 2 stroke gearbox, and would you recommend something cheaper (im not really thrashing the bike or slipping the clutch as ive only been doing it for about 3 month so im no expert)

thanks in advanced fellas! and ladies!

Yes you can use 4T motorcycle oil in your gearbox.
KTM and Husky 2 strokes actually come factory filled with 4T oil.

Yes, of course you can. I run generic crappy oil from Dollar General or Tractor Supply and have zero issues with it. I’m not hard on my clutch or motor and I change it every 5 hours. $3 a bottle and I have no issue with the clutch slipping or plates sticking.
