I am building a 2003 cr125. One trans bearing has a black oil seal built to it. I do not remember seeing it before the bearings were removed. The shop manual does not mention it at all. Does anyone know which way the bearing goes? Does it matter? I have always installed bearings with the writing up which would put the seal down against the case. It is the bearing for the shaft that drives the clutch basket.

I would say you would want the open side of the bearing inwards towards the oil,
