I personally have a Keystone Raptor but when we were buying ours we looked at them all. The higher end models will get you nicer finishings but the actual make up of the trailer doesn't change. When you go looking try and look past all the nice pieces that they want you to fall in love with. Open up all compartments and look behind the areas to see how well its constructed. I had to rebuild and reattach my bed frame, when I had it all apart I could see how cheaply they make these things. Climb on the roof, make sure there is no cracking in any of the sealing. Look underneath see how nicely they tried to seal everything up. I was rather shocked when spending $70k on a trailer how poorly built they are. If I was to buy another toy hauler I would get the Momentum by Grand Designs, one of the more expensive ones on the market but the only one with a 3 year warranty. Everyone else just offers 1 year.

I think every brand has examples of why you should stay away. I ended up building a very simple toy hauler out of a quality cargo trailer. Cargo trailers are much more durable as they usually have one piece aluminum roofs. The rubber coated wood roofs on campers and toy haulers are where 90% of the issues start. If you have to have a toy hauler, when I was doing my research, it looked like the Livin Lite units were pretty well built and durable but they are super expensive. The Forest River Work and Play is another one built on a cargo trailer platform.

I was looking at a smaller one, The Jayco 161 and also Forest River 18HFS. It's just the wife and I, no kids and would like something that I can pull with a 1/2 ton with no issues. Any one have these and inputs? Can you fit a Polaris Razor in one? Just have bikes now, but I know the wife would like to go trail riding in a side by side some day...

I've got a keystone outback. I like it but only for mx and camping my rzr will not fit.

I got an 2008 Fleetwood Nitrous and I can't really talk about the newer models, but Weekend Warrior made an super lite model that had frame issues. Just make sure you have a truck that is rated for the trailer you get. Toy Haulers put a lot of weight on the tongue and you'll usually max out a trucks payload capacity before it's towing max is hit.

Huge margins on these. Ask for 25% off the msrp, you can easily get 20% off. Don't settle for a dime less.

Buy last years left over for 40-45% off msrp.. if its more than a year old, i see them listed for 40-60% off at different times of the year. Usually late fall and winter are the cheapest times to buy.

Forest River 29HFS is what I got, got it last may as a 2017 model for around 35% off, 35-45% off MSRP is where you wanna be on a new unit. Its a nice travel trailer, any bigger I would want a 5th wheel for sure.

What did you pay if you don't mind telling. I've been looking around a bit and haven't found anything in real happy about. I want to buy one this year and would prefer to stick around 25-30k

I saw the 27 hfs for 25-26k. Same as the 29 with the garage just a little shorter.

That thing is sick! I'm considering the 27hfs if I can find a place to park it. How it holding up for you?

Looked at them this weekend, really like the layout of the 29 over the 27. The bed layout just seems so much more practical. Also like the recliner sofa option over the sofa/dinette. Only thing I didn't like was the bathroom but guess that wouldn't bother me much. Wish it was a little lighter, don't think my 1/2 ton would work too good pulling it, so either need to look at something smaller or a bigger truck....
