Tire mounting PSI

We all know a bit of air in the tube prevents having to start all over from the tube being pinched.
I figure around 5psi is a good protecting pressure.
Anyone else use more or less with good results ?

I put enough in it to have some shape then deflate it and install it flat and with the valve stem out so it can breathe. Works for me

They have it down to a science. The key is keeping the tire off the bead completely until its completely over the rim. If you ever get one side on and it seems like the other just doesn't have enough room its because its on the bead on the opposite side.

I just put some air in. Honestly couldnt tell you what psi it is. Enough so its not a flat tube i guess. Put some baby powder in the tire & mount it.

5psi??? Your tube would be a huge black donut. Less than 1 PSI for sure.

This.

Without the constraints of a tire around it, the tube would expand pretty significantly even with a few pounds in it. Just give it enough to attain a rounded shape, which should approach zero psi - equilibrium with the outside atmosphere.

I take the valve core out then fold the tube up to get all the air out then put the core back in. Lay the tube on the tire after half the tire is on then tuck it in folding it in half. when it opens back up on the inside it keeps away from the lip of the rim.
