I was recommended Motorex sd1 for a mid 80's WP shock. It seems to only come in 5L jugs though. Rather than spend $75 on oil, can someone recommend a very thin similar oil that I can buy in a smaller bottle?

The best light weight shock oil I have found is SILKOLENE RSF 2.5wt.
Second is Maxima 100% synthetic racing shock fluid 3wt.
I use KYB oil in everything regardless of brand of component or fork or shock... it’s never let me down!
Don’t piss off the old people - the older they get the less “life in prison” is a deterrent for them!

Golden Spectro cartridge fork fluid 125/150? I noticed they also sell an "ultra light" shock fluid but no idea on weight.

been a long time since I did suspension but you are right that was the fork oil. I even still have some.
Shocks use Spectro Very Light for Showa and ultra light for KYB / Ohlins & WP
Gotcha. Welp, now I guess I get to decide between the Maxima 3wt shock oil that i pretty much use in everything vs. the golden spectro ultra light. Any idea how the two compare?
I was told that these old WP's like super thin stuff (like brake cleaner consistency).
