I remember the first ultimate 4 was incredible but very harsh on the fuel system and head. Is the new stuff any better?

For either, do you drain the fuel every time you ride? Used to do this easily on a carb’d bike but not sure how simple it is on the new ones (I have a 19 yz250f).

Do you remap?

Also, I’m mostly looking for a cleaner / less harsh fuel than pump. The extra HP is a bonus, mostly. I also know this has been discussed to death but I haven’t seen any recent threads.

Pump gas is your best bet especially if you can find ethanol free local.

T4 is cheaper than the u4.4 and does not require a remap. It's a direct pour in replacement for pump gas. T4 seems to last longer as well, as long as its stored correctly.

T4 as a pour in replacement is funny. Stoich is 13.5, SG .75. U4.4 13.1, SG .76. They’re pretty darn similar, pump stoich 14.X. A bike optimized for pump is leaner on T4, and even leaner on U4.4. If you’re spending 80$ for 5 gal of T4 spend the extra 2$ a gallon and get U4.4. Far superior fuel. Remap it.
Out of curiosity, what’s wrong with pump? 93 w/10% ethanol is perfectly fine for your bike. All the internet ethanol wizards will tell you otherwise but it’s jist not true. Some race fuel brands actually use ethanol in their versions that compare to U4.4 and T4, and even VP makes ethanol blended T4 and u4.4 now in certain states that won’t accept the MTBE version of the past.

I dont want to start an argument, but a quick google search pulls up articles from places like motosport and revzilla talking very poorly about ethanol based fuels...

That being said, tons of people use pump gas hassle free. If you must spend $$ on race gas, do it right and get the remap and use the 4.4. Its likely your bike can be improved with a map alone anyways

I can get down with the argument avoidance - but in those same articles I’m sure if you asked the author about Sunoco race fuel they’d be all for it, which is ethanol based for any oxygenate, lol. Same for T4e U4.4e. Ethanol on its own can make huge power, but the injectors in our bikes aren’t large enough is displacement to flow enough fuel for e85.

Been using U4.4 in stock 2017 YZ250F for 2 seasons. Re-Mapping is not necessary, throttle response and power is noticeably improved. IMO Better HP increase than a aftermarket exhaust. Only down side is pay as you play power...

Does anyone know how long the shelf life is for non-ethanol pump gas? Is it comparable to race fuel?

IDK how it is around you but pump ethanol free is only good for lawn equipment around me. 90 Octane R+M/2. No bueno for a dirtbike engine unless you mix it 50/50 with decent fuel like T4 or Sunoco 260GT

I cannot find it.
Get in touch with Lojack's Cycle in Tarentum...they sell T4 for a good deal less than $80. Heck...I have them throw some on their truck for me and they bring it to GNCC...still isn't close to $80

600 even bought a 54 gallon drum tax included in NY of T4. Same shop is at 550 a drum for C12, or 11$/gal if buying that way. Check in with race car shops they typically have much larger volume so they can discount more.

Thanks for all the advice! Anyone has a mapping for the 2019 YZ250F on U4.4? I am running the Preston map right now.

If you’re curious this mapping worked really well with the T4. The bike revs a bit freer and certainly pulls harder though the top.
