Suspension oil

Hey guys I have a 2011kx250f and 2010 crf250r. I am thinking about changing the oil in the forks because they are leaking. My questions is can I buy the oil the forks need from a Napa or other auto parts store, or is it a specialty oil that I’ll need to get from Motorsport or something like that?

You need fork oil. Yes its specific. I dont think autozone or those places have it - at least ive never seen it.

Prob want to order some from your fav parts website. Maxima has what you need

I favor the Maxima as well (blue label “Fork fluid”). Holds up great and is very reasonably priced. You’ll get some guys on here saying to use ATF from the (auto store) and they have for years with no issue and whatever. It is a hydraulic oil just like suspension fluid yes and is generally good at keeping clean. However, ATF weight is quite a bit thicker than your “normal” fork oil. With fork oil the main concern is weight, keeping consistent so your valving stays about the same. For instance maxima 5wt and bel ray 5wt are not the same. Maxima being a touch thinner so could possibly feel different. My recommendation is to buy suspension fluid from a dealer or online retailer most have quick shipping nowadays

If you Insist on Auto parts store oil, at least get Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.

Thanks guys I think I’ll just go with maxima it’s cheap and it’s not that big of a deal to wait.
