I recently picked up a 18 crf450 and I’m really trying not to send the suspension out. My last 6 or so YZ450f have either been sent to FC or done by a local guy.

I weigh 250 and go fairly decent. I know the stock crf stuff is suppose to be decent.

So with springs for my weight how good can I get it myself?

The best setting in one guys opinion might not be good enough in yours. Tinker with it till you have no choice but to send it out.

You should at least get stiffer springs, that is something you can do yourself by checking out some videos on Youtube. Itäs not that difficult!

Correct springs and alot of tweaking with clickers, sag, oil height/ weight etc goes a long way...for the average person this is 100% just fine

This.

I'd add.

Stock suspension and slip on pipe = misguided priorities.
