On my 2019 KTM the steering stem nut is completely tight but the headset is very loose. For example when I am pushing my bike and grab the front brake there is a lot of play inside the headset. I have already replaced the bearings and it still didn’t fix the problem. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks!

Would imagine it needs new bearings?

When you tighten the stem, you don’t already have the clamps tightened down onto the forks right?

Make sure the upper triple clamps are loose when tightening.

Maybe you need a spacer? The nut might be bottoming out on the stem?

Are you sure it’s the bearings that are loose? Not play in the brake pads or floating rotor?

Did you change the bearing races when you changed the bearings?they should be changed whenever you put new bearings in case they’re worn as well.

Not only that, but did the OP tighten the bearing but under the top triple clamp properly?

Bearing races are worn or you didnt assemble it properly. Id tear it back apart and make sure everything is correct and youre not missing pieces like a washer.
