Showa TAC Fork specialist needed

Hello guys,

I have a problem with my rmz 450 with the Showa SFF TAC forks.
When i went to check the pressure in the balance chamber, the pump showed around 250psi (altough i had put in around 170psi the day before). So i went to let off pressure and only grey oil came out.
The fork is unrideable as it is....

My guess is that there must be a seal that leaks internally and pushes oil into the balance chamber when the fork is fully compressed.

Anyone here ever had this problem? Would the defective seal/ o-ring be visible when doing a simple fork seal/ oil change or do i have to take it to a suspension guy?

It would likely be the air piston seal that is likely bad. The inner pressure will push the inner chamber's 100cc past the seal and behind the piston where it will migrate down the inside of damper rod and fill the balance chamber. I've seen it once and it was because the coating stripped off the inside of the damper tube and basically destroyed the air cartridge.

The skf kit really helps that fork and also contains cartridge seals so you can rebuild and service the entire fork

SKF glide kit is the way to go. It comes with a new designed air piston and seals and a new cartridge seal body. GREATLY reduced Stiction and makes the fork feel super smooth. Sounds like Slip was right about he air and oil being pushed passed the air piston and filling up the balance. Glide kit will get ya set up right and even give you a performance advantage, win/win.
