I remember reading and article in Motocross Action mag several months back and they found that many springs were installed incorrectly from the factory. They showed had to fix the problem by switching the left and right springs or something. In doing so they eliminated the spring breakage issue as the spring was no longer being pinched off by the foot peg. I look for the article.
You may also want to check out Thumper Talk as I think I say this same issue talked about there.

Yeah my 2017 KTM came with them installed incorrectly, Went to the dealer with a photo of the broken spring, they apologized and gave me two new springs for free...

FYI.............the pegs are not installed by the factory. They come uninstalled out of the crate and the dealer puts them on. So if anyone is putting them on wrong, its that dealer it was purchased from.

Use the old chassis springs. I had a set here from my 15 250SX and they're a better design. I put those on my 15 FE450 and then on my next 2 450FE's and I haven't broken one since switching to them. FYI, like Brad said the pegs are in a bag in the crate so it's the dealers that are installing them wrong then but I don't agree that it's the problem with them.
