Hey guys bought that rmz 200sx from a fellow vital member bikes sick but got it home and runs like a super fast kdx200 sputters up top pretty bad, went from 182 to 172 main same result , new br8eix plug same result , set the external power valve same result , reeds were good shape still , c12 and checked the carb all was in good shape , pulled pipe to check front of piston it looked pretty good still no obvious signs of why it’s running like this.

200sx is usually a high rpm monster snd this falls flat and does not clean up on top any suggestions on what else to check

Try taking the spark plug boot off the end of coil wire and cut end off
about half inch.
Check spark before and after, should get better

take off left side pv inspection cover with the 90 deg vent tube on it, (2x 8mm bolts)
get engine up to temp with throttle blips on the stand
once warm, (have a helper, its easier), shine a bright light into the pv window, grab a handful of WOT and verify that the pv is opening all the way by watching the pv mechanism (with the hash mark on it), move down and out of view.
There are 2 hash marks, the one on the left will not move, the one on the right should move..and at idle conditions, the movable hash mark should be slightly lower that the stationary one.

If it doesn't move, you may have a gummed up pv, or another small but fixable issue.

Please post pics of the pv set up once you remove the window and also pictures of the (2) black bolts on either side of the cyl that have some small lock washer type look to them, they are shaped like little light bulbs.

Good luck, J

Hey j bone finally did the test at idle it’s the right movable one is much lower then the stationary left one , the right one does move down almost out of sight . Let me know if you would be interested in porting the cylinder and doing your head mod on this thing and timing the power valve correctly.

Thank you
