I just bought a new cylinder for my 01 rm125 from partzilla. My current head has a cast section on the left side where new one is open. Am I missing something??

Does the part # check out as an actual 2001? Hard to see here but my 2003 had the open version for powervalve assembly (behind the thick black hose).
Part number is 11200-36840 which is for k1/k2. I googled 01 rm125 cylinder head and all images had the open power valve. On partzilla diagram, there doesn't show a cover. But there is two threaded holes so im assuming there is a cover plate?
Bike was used and current cylinder had been sleeved. Don't know if it is what came on the bike stock. But now that I have the new cylinder, what goes over the new opening? The diagram on partzilla doesn't show anything covering it.

That was meant for Seth.
On the 2001-2002, a metal wire actuator comes out of the bottom end to actuate the power valve. Additionally, the recess on the cylinder is for a spring with a turn key on top, that is covered by a plate with two bolts to hold it in place. The power valve on 2001-2 is adjustable.
The 2003 was a single cylinder year, and I think they changed the power valve setup so it didn't have the adjuster. 2004 was a longer cylinder, as was 2005 but these have different powervalves.
I think you had a 2003 cylinder and I think you bought a 2001-2
Awesome, that's the info I needed. Next question is will powervavle from this cylinder work or will I need one specifically for an 01/02 cylinder.
The parts were on a different diagram so that's why I didn't see them.

Would I be better just swapping the 01 I bought out for the 03 cylinder and reusing the powervalve? Some of the parts are "obsolete" and would be another $400 to buy them . Is there an advantage to the adjustable powervalve? Why did they discontinue it. Gotta love used stuff.

i would just find the most inexpensive way of getting the bike running again.
Ive never had a 2003 model, but i think thats the cylinder you have on the bike originally- i would try and get that verified.
Im good with that. I just added all the parts for new power valve and it came out to $612 without shipping and there was one piece that was obsolete that I would have to hunt down. I'll verify the head was an 03, return this 01. Thanks for all the input bruce
Good catch, I totally forgot but I believe my cylinder was a 2002. I have had several bike since and had thought I remember the 02-03 being the same but you are probably correct.
I have a complete 02 cylinder with power valve assembly.
It ran great but the transmission started popping out of gear so I parted most of the bike out.
