Rm125 bar mount situation

My rm125 had 1 1/8 bars and bar mounts on it when i purchased it and I wanted to switch over to the 7/8, I reached out to a fellow rm owner who told me I could just run CR125/250 bar mounts. I bought a set of cr bar mounts and when I went to install them I found that the studs wouldn’t fit down into my current rubber dampers so I drilled them out to fit, after doing that and tightening them down my bars (mounts and all) will still kinda move around. Do I need to buy the cr rubber mounts or just go a completely different route?

I have used a Honda mounts and they worked... that being said I wouldn’t have drilled them out... might be screwed... do you have washers on the nut side? Are the rubber cones sticking up a lot? Maybe check applied racing clamps for a price check on some replacements..

DO NOT ride if your bar mounts move around on the triple clamp. You are asking for disaster.

My suggestion is to bite the bullet and get the right bar mounts for your triple clamp.

Is it because the holes were 10mm on the Suzuki and 12mm for the (Honda)mounts? The rubber is ruined more than likely, gonna have to play mix and match, maybe get some solid cones or the Honda rubbers and washers. Pix would help a lot.

Stupid question, why not just run the proper mounts?

I’ll shoot some pics tomorrow, I’m definitely not going to ride it with them like that. It just has up and down movement, not backwards and forth. I removed the 1 1/8 mounts and went to install them but the diameter of the top rubber mount wasn’t the same as the honda stud so I just drilled the tops of them (the metal) and then it went down into them. I bolted them down equally and tightly. If I need to I’ll just order the oem top and bottom rubber mounts.

I thought this would be cheaper and easier lol, if I just need to order the correct rubber mounts that insert into the clamps it still will be.

Check out the MXBonz mounts on eBay. I have been friends with Frank since the 70’s and he CNC’s high quality bar mounts. They use a larger OD 8.8 oversized bolt that requires removing the aluminum sleeves from the dampener.
