Rear wheel bearing

Going to change my rear wheel bearings as i’ve got play, probably a ridiculous question but the bearings in a genuine wheel will be the same as in an aftermarket (excel, sm pro etc) as long as it’s for the same model and year bike won’t it?

I’ve never done them before and want to make sure they’re right before I order them

Not all the time. Many aftermarket hubs use different sized bearings in their hubs compared to OEM hubs. If you want an exact replacement bearing of what you have, remove the dust shield from the hub and look for a code on the plastic seal part of the bearing. The code is usually 4 digits or so. Search that code on amazon or eBay and you’ll have plenty of results.

Another possibly stupid question but will heating anodised hubs with a blow torch damage the finish at all? Never done a wheel bearing before but got to learn at some point
