Hi There, I have a 2010 RMZ450 with a Hinson clutch. The bike functions well except it just randomly started making a screeching clutch noise when you pull in the clutch. The noise mostly goes away if you release the clutch (in gear or not).

The clutch was real grabby, however I have just fixed that by removing the hydraulic clutch lever and going back to a cable with more adjustment.

I have removed and inspected the clutch and there is nothing obvious. although I probably don't know what I'm looking for. Next steps are replace the clutch I guess.
As I said the bike works well just sounds terrible with the clutch in.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before, will add a video here when I get a chance.
Cheers

Did you check the needle roller bearing is installed and the correct way round on the pushrod?

Yeah, thanks, pretty sure that is fine.

Video of the noise below, think it might be rubbing on the cover somehow after some thought. have some new parts coming.

That is so weird. I’ve never had that problem on my 2011. Sounds like birds chirping

Just following up here, I re inspected the clutch and the basket had about 2mm of play side to side so we took it apart and the main shaft bearing in behind has collapsed, so its a replacement of that and hopefully noise will be gone.

That basket is worn out due to the notching. The inner bearing is also worn as the play indicates.

No worries, just send me a PM, it's out of my 18 before I put the Hinson in, very low hours.
