I have an 05 RM250 which i bought back in 2013, it has unfortunately been in storage for a few years now andwas hoping to get it back out on the track this summer. So, I thought i would start by getting a full suspension revalve. Tonight i removed the rear shock and i noticed it has a sticker saying 'Showa RM125'. So my question is how will this effect getting the suspension set up and is it worth getting a revalve or am i better trying to source a RM250 unit? I have no idea how it ended up on there and im sure the suspension settings will differ betweem the 125 and 250's.

The valving may or may not be a problem, but usually the factories spec a heavier spring for the 250 compared to the 125.
I would set your race sag, then see if it has the correct free sag. If so, run it and and see how you like the shock valving. Who knows, it might be great!

When I last checked for one year, there was only 1 shim different, which is probably 2 or 3 clicks

Thanks for the responses so far, I must admit i am a bit annoyed about it, I was looking forward to having fresh suspension that was properly set up, now with this its seems like there is going to need to be a compromise somewhere. On the other hand, im a half decent rider but nowhere near good enough to tap into the bikes full potential, so i'm not sure if it will be so much of an issue. I will see what the suspension specialist says.

Remember, the factories set suspension up for "most guys." "Most guys" on a 250 are heavier than "most guys" on a 125, so they set the suspension for moderately talented dudes in the assumed weight range for each bike.
There is no guarantee that stock suspension will work perfectly for you on either bike, especially if you are prodigiously talented, significantly overweight/underweight, or like an unconventional setup.
