Drain your coolant and oil. Pull off the right side engine cover and check you shift shaft return spring or, more than likely, the shift cam stop spring. You might have to pull the clutch basket to access them. The good news is, it's not likely to be a problem inside the transmission. Good luck and keep us posted.

Spot on! I learned this one the hard way almost 20 yrs ago...we split cases twice on an RM125, replaced the shift drum, shafts, forks,gears...you name it, before realizing that the part #19 Stopper, ShiftCam was bent a little and the roller would not stay in the Shift Cam properly.....live and learn and yea for the internet to make the learning curve a little easier for others!
Here's a true story...on another RM125, I reversed 3rd and 4th gear on both the drive and driven shafts once...engine went together just fine...Novice kid raced it a Perris that weekend and said it bogged when he hit 3rd gear...took a bit to figure that one out! shifted 2nd to 4th to 3rd
