Finally got around to doing this on my 02. Super easy. Don't remove the whole side cover like everyone says to, just remove the clutch cover and basket. Remove the shift stopper bolt and the single seal keeper bolt and everything slides right off. Reinstall without the spring then use a pair of needle nose to pop the spring back on, then reinstall the seal keeper. My 02 shift stopper was a little sloppy in the bearing, but still in one piece. Definitely worth 30 bucks just for the piece of mind...

I have the 16 solid wheel stopper to drop into my 14. On another site someone posted a photo of the old an new stoppers, and it looked like there was a difference in the shape between the two, can you verify?

The old part has a single side mount bearing where the updated one has two arms that stabilize the solid roller. My guess is to make it more durable and flex less. They are shaped different but I measured it out and the pivot hole, spring mount and tip of roller are all the same distance. Just rode mine around my property for a little bit and it seems to make each shift a tad more pronounced, where the old style stopper just kinda went into gear. I like it better just because I'm used to it with my 16.
