I was changing the shock spring on my yz the other day and when I slid the bump stop up noticed the coating on the shaft worn off and some of it rusting. I'm assuming this needs to be fixed before it gets worse, any ideas on fixing it or is it unlikely to give me problems?
Being under the bump stop it never travels into the shock but not real keen on the shaft snapping one day

To fix it you would need to get it recoated. I wouldnt run that on my bikes. But theres tons of farm boys riding roached bikes all over the place. So who knows.

After washing my bikes I gently pry up the rubber bump stop and spray wd-40 on the lower shock assy....Leave the bump stop up for the lower shock to dry out....

Yea you need to have the rubber bump up after washing bike.

Just have a suspension tuner replace the shaft, not super expensive. In the bottom it does not cause any issues but it will eat its way up

Used to completely disassemble the shaft and send it out to be re-chromed. Far from an easy process. If it is under the bumper as long as it is far enough down to not let the seal weep through the spot it will be ok
