PW50 Fuel Choices?

Just picked up a PW50 for my youngest son. The previous owner ran VP MR12 combined with AmsOil Dominator 2-cycle.

My questions:

OIL:
In place of AmsOil Dominator, can I run Castor 927 in the injection tank?

GAS:
My local dealer carries VP Race Gas but doesn't stock MR12. They do have C12, T12, and T4. I have never used VP and as of this writing am unsure of the differences (research to commence now). Can I use one of the available choices? Sunoco 93 pump gas?

Thought, advise and expertise are appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Jake

Stock PW? Pump gas all the way. Ethanol free if you can source it easily. Otherwise add some ethanol fuel stabilizer to the can just to reduce gummed up carb headaches. The PW50 I have has a bowl drain screw on the bottom of the carb. I drain the carb each time I park the bike so as not to let any fuel sitting in it.

As for oil, I don't believe 927 is injector compatible. The PW's are very prone to getting gunked up with carbon so I'd avoid castor at all costs. I run low end BelRay injector specific mineral oil. For reference, my PW is a 1999 and has never had the top end off and runs perfect.

I want to second FGR01's sentiment NOT to run 927 in the injector bottle. Get an injection-ready 2-stroke oil, like Yamalube 2S (not R) or the Bel-Ray 2-stroke injector oil... I think it's called S2.

Also, if the previous owner was running race fuel with premix, he may have blocked off the injector. That's a common mod. If this is the case, run premix in the fuel, like you would with any other 2-stroke. If you still have the premix bottle it's unlikely, but check anyway. Sometimes people just leave the injector connected when they use premix but run the oil tank dry - when the oil dries out the injector can seize. Then, even if you fill up the oil tank, the bike may not be getting oil.

All good points. Thank you, Sir.

Isn’t that little tank behind the number plate where the nitrous goes? 😆
