Oil leak after Service WP Cone Valve

5/17/2020 5:03am Edited Date/Time 5/18/2020 6:57am
Had my WP Cone Valve out for Service/Rebuilt by a WP Service Center .
New 48 Springs , Cones , Cone Adapter , Seals , Sealholders new for 750€.
Last week after the first ride i notice oil leack on both sides

I thought it comes from the Bleeder Screw so i replace them but it wasn‘t.
For me it Looks like it comes from the Preload Adjuster
Any idea what can be wrong?
Tomorrow i call the WP Service

Is there the rubber o ring on the bleed screw?

Bummer, might just have to call who did the service.

Mine do the same thing. When I asked Billy at Powerband about it he said it’s pretty normal and if they rebuild that part it still might do it. He had me turn the preload in two turns then out two turns to help set the seal. It worked on one side and helped on the other. It’s just a seep and doesn’t run down the fork or anything.

God damn it, I have the exact same leak. WP considers this normal?

It's the o-ring where you unscrew the valving stack from the cartridge. Might have pinched it when they put them back in

Not normal. My 2018 CV had service 3 times since I bought it new, never leaked at this place.

I’ve never had that leak either.

So I'm guessing about $4000 USD for forks and service and leaking is normal?

I'm surprised Billy at Powerband said the leaking was normal. I'm not doubting what the poster said, but From what I see, he knows his stuff. If my CV's were leaking there after a service, I'd wouldn't take "it's normal to leak there" as a acceptable answer. lol

WP forks with preload adjusters are known to leak at the PL adjuster o-ring as far back as the early 2000s open cartridge forks. That said I'd agree with RockyRider, it looks like the o-ring for the compression adjuster that is leaking.

I call the WP Dealer today he recommend try to
re-tighten the Preload Adjuster Ring on the top .
According to him its a common Problem on CV Forks that this Ring come loose .
I will see tomorrow if its sealed
