Want the black rim with orange hub and black spikes and orange Nipples ideally. Not sure how good the oem wheels are on an 18 but deff do not want something heavier don’t want to spend 1400$ either.

Anyone have these?

Oem are deff better than those.

What also scares me about this is replacement bearings.

Tusk is decent set for the money but silver spokes & nipples

We have a set of those on our crf450r woods bike. It is ridden hard and jumped on a track as well. So far held up well. Keep an eye on spokes as with any wheels. On our set they use oem bearings like the tusk impacts do. They packaged them well. Make sure you order them from KKEs ebay page or site though.

how about tusk?
are there any good prebuilt wheels for under a grand? should I just try and buy a set of factory edition wheels used?

Awesome wheels. Seen a few guys who run harescrambles and gncc’s with them and they do great. Check spokes till they “settle in” and they do great. Had a set on my yz250 with stock hubs. I ran through about everything i could with it. Only issue i had was the bearings went bad after 20hrs and the wheel itself scratched easy but i put it through hell as well.

They are good, but i race A class and break spokes everytime i run tusk wheels also in the air i feel a bit of unbalance in them always, and they are half a pound heavier!

I guess since you race A Class you might somewhat be able to feel the weight difference and quality but either wheels are solid wheels to be fair. The average person will never know the difference.

Why does every post i put in these threads seem to get thumbs downed i dont know the skill level of the op so i was just stating if running a higher level class on a mx track going for competitive times you might have more downtime than track time due to the cheap budget.

haters gon hate. thanks for the input so far guys. I swear nobody lists weights for their wheel sets its absurd.
Im gentle on wheels and always avoid any harsh impacts from my fragile wrists/ankles from many surgeries. I just want light weight and good looking. Dont need the best but I will for sure notice a half pound on the wheels, going from a heavy tube to a lightweight tube is a huge difference.

send you wheels to dubya and have them rebuild how you want. you already have machined hubs and good rims. Prob only cost a few hundred bucks

We use the Tusk rims they feel a lot heavier than one pound over the stock ones but I actually never weighed them just going off my arm scale. In all the years of using them we only ever had one fail.

You don't necessarily have to spend $1400 for a decent set of wheels. FasterUSA has wheelsets with American made hubs (machined in house) starting at $850 with Excel rims, and $979 with DID rims. Nothing Chinese made. Call and ask for Vince if you need any info.

These are A60 rims with FasterUSA hubs. Give them a call! Note that doing the orange nipples and black spokes both cost extra.

I haven't looked into it myself, but I should probably do it. I'm an A-class rider, and tore/taco'd my KTM front wheel during practice. Gives me goose bumps thinking about what could have happened to me if I hit a little harder or didn't pull over right away.

I think are average wheels for an average price. They are awesome for 99% of average joes. KKE might be some competition for them, now, RMATV will fight to keep their market share. I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the price on the Tusk sets as new players come into the market.

Faaster and Dubya are specialist wheel makers … a cut above Tusk. You absolutely get what you pay for with these guys in that the wheels are cooler, lighter and stronger (mostly lighter and maybe a little stronger). These guys are for the 10% of riders that want something a little more bomb proof and that hold a line on a flat turn better and tip in easier.

If you at what bicycle riders pay for wheels, our stuff is super-cheap.

I think I am going to take the plunge and buy these wheels. When I get them I will do weights and let you know what the difference is. I heard KTM has light stock wheels but they aren't the strongest. You can buy those wheels from KKE website for 509.00.

asked Dubya and said Talon Ultra-Light hubs paired with Excel Takasago rims is the lightest set and it is only a few ounces lighter than stock for 1735$

At this point im keeping these wheels and going to hunt the the lightest tubes possible. I believe some guys run mtb tubes.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want wheels lighter than stock?

Wheels are unsprung weight the lighter the better, they affect handling.

You have a 450 do you really need it any faster. I don't think you will tell if you have lighter wheels unless you are A class rider. This isn't a mountain bike where how light your wheels and tires are makes a difference.

just run the MTB tubes, lightweight builds almost always do this. Curious about hte type of riding you'll be doing more than anything else at this point regarding the premise of this thread?

You're chasing ounces in wheels when there's pounds to be saved just by switching brands of tire though

This! There is a nearly 1lb difference between Pirelli and Dunlop rear tires. The Bridgestone X30 is 2 lbs heavier than a Pirelli.

Take it to the limit, one more time!

Michelins are lighter than pirellis too. Run a 100 or 110-90 on the rear and save 2lbs alone.
