Just picked up a pair of SFS clamps (used) and the travel indicator o-ring is missing. Was wondering if it's easy enough to take one of the air chambers off to put a new one on. It looks like there a lock ring holding it on but don't want to ruin a seal and mess them up.

Air only, or air-spring? If air-spring, it's pretty easy to remove the bar mounts and stick one on there. Air only is a lot more difficult.

Air only...
It can be done, but it's a lot of effort. You need a special tool and a bunch of heat to break the loctite. I'd just go without it!

Not worth the hassle to replace. Just try changing pressures in 5 psi increments. You'll feel a difference and be able to adjust to your liking. It's pretty obvious.

I just put a small zip tie on. Seems to perform as well as o ring. Out of the way, so nobody sees it other than me when I check it on occasion on ride day.

I was thinking about doing that as well but I worry about damaging a seal. I have used a zip tie in the last on a fork leg but prefer the o-ring. But I think zip tie or nothing.

Do you check the pressure every ride? Being such a small chamber it's really hard to tell if the air is leaking or not. When removing the pumpi as fast as I can, I'll still lose 10 psi. I guess the trick is to overfill them by 10psi? Any tips?

Not sure what kind of air pump your using, but with most when you disconnect you are losing the pressure out of the pump, the Schrader valve is closed before the seal is broken between the pump and the valve.

Naturally, when you reconnect the pump it has atmospheric pressure, so the 10psi loss you’re seeing is just to pressurize your pump again. Not your chamber being low by 10psi.

So pump it to what you want and that is the psi in the chamber. When you reconnect it, you’re going to lose some into the pump but it doesn’t matter, just pump it to where you want it and keep riding.

Works Connection make a device to prevent loss as well. Also makes it much easier to screw pump on. Screw approximately 3” device on valve. Then pump onto valve. I don’t check mine often. I just check the zip tie after ride. If not using more than 75% of travel, I don’t even check it.

Good to know, thank you!

Got them on tonight, kinda a PITA beings I had to shave casting mark off frame, grind down the cable routing bracket all to clear the air chambers. Then I noticed when I wiggle the handlebars that there is play between the triple clamps and the chambers. Hopefully someone will tell me that's normal but I have a feeling it's not.

Was able to tighten the ring nut on the one which was loose causing the movement. Think I'm good!
