Mixing clutch component brands

I have a tusk competition heavy duty clutch in my cr250 and it’s been getting the trans oil very dirty after only a couple hours. The steel plates still look perfectly fine but I can tell the fibers don’t have much time left. I didn’t have high expectations from a $65 clutch kit anyway. My question though, is it ok to put another brands fibers in with the tusk steels? I can’t think of an obvious reason why it wouldn’t work but does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? I’d like to put Hinson fibers in it.

I've mixed and matched without issue, but never on bargain parts, only premium parts.

Those Tusk steels are likely the same quality level as the fibers, no?

If it were me, I'd just switch over to high-end stuff (OEM, Rekluse, Hinson). You've just proven to yourself that "you get what you pay for" and you seem to want better next time.

I'd make sure you're using great transmission oil, too. That's KEY.

Would the Hinson fibers not come with steels anyway? Why bother?

The kit I was looking at was fibers only. I’ll probably stop trying to be a cheap ass and just get the whole Hinson setup with fibers, plates and springs.
