Look at the head camshaft journals.

Paw Paw
I checked the head but saw no signs of metal .

Looks like most metal comes from the center of the case . Pulled the left side cover , nothing unusial there .

Its both aluminium and Steel (magnetic)

Guess my next option is to split the engine !

Engine was running fine before and i herd no knocking or scraping sound

Sorry for my poor english

With that much metal, I'd split the cases and find out where it was coming from. Better do it now when it will cost hundreds to fix and not thousands.....or whatever monetary system you use.

So i did some digging.
What i found was that the crank has shaved of aluminium of the left and right engine case .....
Looks like i can reuse the cases but what you think about the crank?
Its blue arund the bering surfaces !

Shoud i change the whole crank or just new berings?
Here is some (bad) pictures of it
Total on hours on the engine is 60 ..

Looks like you caught it just in time.
Since its all split anyway, its time for new OEM crank, bearings and gaskets.

I'd look closely at the clutch and transmission too.

If you want to split cases soon again. Buy a hotrods crank..

Also. Is that a 24mx/twenty oil filter? The colour sure looks like that.
NEVER use those... 8/10 I removed in customers bikes when I had a shop were showing signs of vacuum/ sucked inwards (cant describe in English. Dom hade sugit ihop sig i filterytan)

I only use hiflo filters and motul oil! ( 24mx/twenty finns inte i min värld).....
Last time i used the bike was 2014-15
:p
My plan was to start it and change oil .
Gues it dident like to be forgotten

I think i Will get new Main bearings an hope it makes it to 100h then change crank . IF not ..... Well i always missed my cr250 so how about a af build Wink ?

If you can find someone reputable, rebuild the crank you have, or buy OEM.
Obviously, replace the top end.
Definitely do all the bearings/seals in the cases since it's apart and they may have metal in them now.
Clean the transmission and clutch REALLY good. Lots of places to hide metal shavings.
Check the clutch plates wear levels. You may just want to replace the clutch as well. Might save you time in a few hours if it's worn.

I have the same problem but caut it in time!
Saw a little of aluminium chip in the oilfilter and have recently split the crank.

How did you solve the problem? How long have you been ridden it and was there no sign for a new bottom end rebuild?

In my case the engine (crf450 2012) have 83h and everything inside is oem. The crank, bearings, sealings etc was new when it was rebuilt!

Can upload some photos about my problem..

I’d find some one local that does cranks and have it rebuilt. I’d skip the high end OEM or aftermarket.
