My kid is aging out of the 65 class and he's still super short at 4'9". He knows he's going to have to move up to an 85 but he's no where close to being able to reach the ground. He's intimated by the 85 based solely on the seat height. Are there tricks other than lower seat foam to lower the bike?

Thanks!

Seat Foam? What seat foam? The TC85 has none to begin with! Seriously, the thing is paper thin. Not much there to work with.

Not sure if the KTM or GG are any bigger or smaller to begin with, but they have a little more seat foam to remove.

Fair enough, there isn't much seat foam there to begin with.

My son recently turned 10 and is 4'7" and I just picked up a '17 TC85 for him to start on. He is small on it but is having no problem riding it. He had to figure out how to hang off the side to stop and get it in gear to get going but does it fine after falling over 2 or 3 times. I was going to start him on a smaller Japanese brand but I came across a deal I couldn't pass up.

Not sure how accurate it is but I was told the newer TC85 comes with the optional low seat KTM sells for the 85sx

Sdi in lake Elsinore might have the big washer on the shock shaft, they make them thinner for lowering. Then pull forks up in clamps

slipdog, is this the first bike your son has ever had or did he have something prior to the TC85?

He started on a Honda 50 then moved to a PW80. He finally asked for a faster bike when he turned 8 so I got him a 65 in Jan 2020 and he did his first race that summer in July so he's been racing a 65 for about a year and a half now.

Suspension limiters. Im not familiar with that bike but if it has a linkage rear suspension it would be a 3:1 ratio. So a 10mm limiter will lower it 30mm.
