Kx250 fork seal replacement

Hi guys.

I have taken it upon my self to change my fork seals. I have watched a few videos on YouTube on what I assumed were my forks. But I seem to have a different bottom fork nut to them.

I have loosened the top cap off. Drained the oil out. But does this bolt need to be removed to change the seals? Every video I have watched seems to have a 17mm nut not an Allen key like this one.

Thanks.

Yea you have to remove that. Its what holds the forks together - kindof. Once thats off youll be able to remove the inner cartridge and then pull the tubes apart

You do not need to remove it to do the seals. If you want to remove the cartridge to clean and remove all the oil properly then you need to remove it. Unscrew the cap, separate the cap from the piston rod, remove spring, remove dust seal and clip and they should slide apart.

Please note....That inner adjuster has to be turned fully counter clockwise before you remove that cap nut or you will damage the adjuster.

FYI: Those fork tubes should have been cleaned prior to taking them apart to insure you don't get dirt in the forks.

Thanks for the help guys. Have ordered the correct tool. Set the adjuster back and will give them a proper clean before stripping them apart fully.
