Would a kx250 02 complete engine fit onto a 2005 bike and frame?

Thank, I want a straight swap
Will an 05 be the only option or do you know if any other years would be a direct fit?
Cheers

I think a 01 would directly fit.

How sure would you be?

Kawasaki went to a new frame and engine in 05. They changed some things internally with the engine in 06, but i believe the cases are the same (double check with part numbers). Based on that i would think 05-07 would bolt in.

05 to 08 are basically the same. (they sold the 08 in the rest of the world, not the USA)

True, I'm on mobile so i can't see where anyone is located. I do know the cranks are different on the 06 and up, but i think that's the only major change.

Another reason i don't think the older motor will work, even if the mount holes line up, is Kawasaki changed how the exhaust mates the cylinder for the 05 and up. On the 05 up the exhaust goes over a flange, prior years fits into the cylinder.

05 to 08 are all the same bike apart from half of the crank shaft on the engine. The 06-08 has a lock pin and nut on the bottom of the shock unlike the 05 which it a nut and bolt. The 08 is the same bike as 06-07 apart from the front forks dont have the groove to fit the fork guide sliders.
