The KTM air box is fine as is. The Husky air box is the one that needs help.
But with that said, hot glue fine wire screen mesh behind the 1" holes. Remember that the more holes the more likely that water will get into the air box. They will need to be covered during bike washing or in a mud ride.

No matter what I do duct tape etc my air box gets soaked during washing. I use a filter cover each wash because it’s so bad so the holes won’t make much worse
I drilled 1inch holes in mine and they actually make some inserts u can buy that has little filters with it for muddy or dusty days. When I had my 250sxf on the dyno it did better with more air to it which is why I added holes to mine. I don't have any current pics or I'd show u

I did about 1inch holes. I also have another cover without holes I use for washing.

Hit up Jeff. They can print logos on the tape or not. This stuff holds up the longest that i've tried.

Jeff does mine as well. I was getting 1-2 max rides from the KTM powerparts ones and the same with the Nihilo ones only to find out the Nihilo makes them for KTM, go figure :-). I'm getting 8-10 hrs from Squid Motos Grip guards.
This is what I cut to get more air into the KTM air box and it shows on the dyno so I know it works. We picked up over 1hp running it without the airbox cover and it was right where the bike needs it the most. I've been cutting this rib off of the last 4 KTMs that I've owned. It easy and definitely won't let as much dirt in as drilling holes in the cover will. The first pic is the cover stock and the second is with the rib cut off.

Joe,
Looks great! I don’t see rivets installed to hold mesh on. So can you tell what your using and how it’s done??? Ha

It’s windown screen from Home Depot. It’s held in place by 3m adhesive spray.
Drill holes- Cut screen to size- spray inside of plate with glue- lay screen on top.
