My son and nephew are 3.5 and riding a PW50 and JR50 still with training wheels.
Just wondering what the next step should be.
A friend of mine has a Crf50 and ttr50 both really nice and low hours. It feels like maybe these bike would be good inbetween the pw/jr and 65cc mx bikes. I can get a great deal on them but are they the right next/2nd bikes?

I do not plan on building any full race 50s. Just considering stock bikes.

Pw50, xr50, 65, then 85 etc is how my dad did it for myself and my sibligs. Worked out well.

Same here were on a pw50 at 6 and getting toobig for it. all I find is husky/ktm 50 size wise. A kx 65 is way too big. Haven't bitten the bullet yet but most likely a husky is next.

im not sure about reliability on the faster 50s like cobra or ktm/husky. I heard there is a lot of maintenance on those. I own a small trucking company and don't have time for those if they are as high maintenance as I hear they are.

I have the same concerns. If I didn't I would have bought one already so we moved him over to a Polaris ace for now.

Ive got 10 flat acres of field with 2 small turn tracks for now. The future obstacles will depend on what is safe enough. Probably rollers and small tables until they can ride a 65. Not much for peewee friendly tracks near me.
