Hello all. I've be having some issues with the forks on my 2006 KX250, Link with a few pics . Basically I'm just having some really weird wear issues on forks that are very low hour, even the outer lower tube where the seals rub have an abnormal amount of streaking which is leading me to think they're possible out-of-round or some factory flaw.

Anyway I'm doing some research incase I need to buy "new" forks, I figure if that's the case I'll get away for the "showabas" and try something known to be a good fork. The KYB SSS forks come to mind, and after doing some research it would appear they might be a close to straight swap. The dimensions I've found are

KX Forks clamp area:

Given the info I've gathered is correct, are these numbers close enough for a swap if I get forks off one of those earlier years Yamaha's? I know I'll still have to factor in wheel spacers, and lining up with the brake caliper, but just for bolting the forks up is this feasible, or am I completely overlooking something? Also if anyone has done this even with other forks can you give some info? thanks!

I might have a set of forks that will work on your kx250, they are a set of Pro-circuit B kit forks. They have all the coatings of the A kit forks. Here’s a pic there on a 2017 kx250f, we ran them for a few races Photo

I believe the newer kawis have a 2mm smaller upper clamping area, and your b kit is out of my price range! Haha but thanks for posting up, that's a clean bike

I ran SSS fork from YZ125 in my 07 Kx125, triple clamps diameters are the same, but front brake and wheel won't fit wihtout mods.

What did you do? I was thinking about possibly just doing a yz front wheel and brake system also if that'd be the easy way. I guess that'd just depend on clamp center-center distance

That's what I did, worked perfectly.

It’s possible that your bushings are causing streaking.

Also Try taking a little gas and rubbing the streaks out. Some of mine came clean. It’s like the dust seal/seal rubbed off and discolored lower leg.

I'll give that a shot for the streaking, my main concern is the damaged bottom out cone and inner lower leg though
