KX125 KYB outer fork tube question

Edited Date/Time 4/7/2021 1:09pm
Can the silver part of the outer fork tube that contains the seals on later KX 125 forks be removed? It’s gotta be either threaded or pressed on?
Want to make sure before I go at it with heat or anything.

I’m not sure by why do you need to remove it?

Would like to do a different colour coating on each part.

I would guess it’s threaded on if it’s a separate piece. I think press fitting on a tube like that would be to easy to damage

A good anodize guy can tape it and treat it complete.

Did you ever get these apart I have the same question

I didn’t, I anodised the whole tube then polished the lower piece to remove the anodise and leave a good finish on the aluminium.

Edit: I do believe they are threaded, but after some trying I decided it wasn’t worth risking destroying the tubes.
